OPNsense virtualized

Welcome to the first post on this blog. For the sport, I will be self-hosting this blog. This article is completing the video that I made on my channel.

My goal was to have a network with separation when needed for testing. The video features OPNsense, which has an FW with some basic rules. I am using XCP-ng has a hypervisor and Xen Orchestra Community edition to manage. When following the video, you can create OPNsense VM and VLANs in XCP-ng. Everything can be found in the documentation of Xen Orchestra and OPNsense. Keep in mind that my setup is using old hardware and what I am showing works well for a home lab environment and is not suited for production. My goal is to have a low-cost home lab for testing purposes. My permanent solution is on low-powered systems, and my home lab is only powered on when needed. Enjoy the video, enjoy homelabing.
